Goosey's Place - Mommies on the Internet!!!

Look folks, I have been trying out some new cost efficient stuff here at the house that you may be interested in:

We are firing our TV cable company!

Jack and I went out of Radio Shack and purchased the Analog Pass-Through DTV Converter Box for $60.00.  We have an outdoor antenna.  I was surprised to see that we receive twenty very clear channels.

We don't pay a bill for TV anymore, the equipment belongs to us!  There is a snow storm here in Virginia and we still have pretty good reception!  Good Stuff!!!

Now I'm questioning my contract with DirectTV?  Goodness, how long did I sign up for them?
We met our contract obligations because we had their service for over a year!  Yes!!!  We cancelled them for midnight tonight.  The representative from DirectTV gave me a pretty cool website called:

She stated that we can view movies on this site; with a very inexpensive membership plan.  I'll have to check this out later.

We have also subscribed to Blockbuster on line and our bill is only $10.00 a month.  We order one movie at a time.......but the great thing is that we get to chose the movies we want to see!

We also tried to fire our phone company!

Once I'm installed on the new internet service provider, we are going to try the Magic Jack!
The reason I'm so excited about this, is that the sales representative at Radio Shack said they have not seen any returns for this product!

This hooks up to your computer.
I will let you know how this works out.  $40.00 for the Magic Jack and I believe only a $20.00 a year phone bill.  Am I in heaven or what?

Oh my gosh it works!  They are right and I'm firing my phone company tomorrow!
Make sure you read the computer specifications on the "Magic Jack" before you hook it up.

If you keep your computer up and running all the time the "Magic Jack" is functional.  The reception is wonderful!  My problem is when I leave for work, I log off the Internet and place my computer in sleep mode to conserve energy.  Situation resolved, I restart my computer when I get home.

Remember a moment of patience, a lifetime of savings! We were paying over $50 a month for our phone bill.  With all the options available through their software like free local and long distance, directory assistance, voicemail, and caller ID, I'll work it out. No problems with my computer from this software.

I was playing around with my "Magic Jack" today.  The darn thing is set up so I can take calls on the computer using my mic and speakers.  Kinda echoie. Need to replace the mic and speakers. I can keep my hands free to work on my keyboard while talking on the phone.  Also, we ran an extention to the living room and use that phone too.  Gotta set up my voicemail tomorrow.

I had to remind my Jackie to make sure to check the phone when he is finished with his calls.  He's my real Magic Jack!!!

Anyways, I still have my cell phone for emergencies in case of weather related interrupted cable service.

We needed to reestablish my phone line for our ad in the Federal Supplier's guide.  I am hopeing to receive a link on Goosey's Dream for Mom's to work at home on the Internet.  The basic incoming calls telephone service; only costs $12.95 a month. I purchased a phone with an answering machine.

See my computer setup information on page three; for best results. I don't use any instant messaging services or automatic updates.

The wonders of what new technology can do for all of us!!!

Too bad we can't fire the electric company yet!
You're next!  Remember the sun and wind hold a lot of power for the people too!

In the future, I'm going to replace every lightbulb in my house with those new energy efficient ones.  Haven't they power packed and consolidated those bulky solar panels yet?  What's the deal?  New technology, new technology..........deliver us from these electric bills!

Bill Ford sent me this e-mail

I spoke with a gentleman yesterday about his solar panel system; he paid $12,000 for the equipment alone. This did not even include the price for installation!

This may be well worth looking into!  Even if it's just for the study materials.  I heard something on the news this morning...........guess who is asking for an increase in rates next month?

I think once we check this out; we may include this service in our new roofing business.  Cheap!  That's my kinda of word!  I know there is nothing the matter with this type of service.  For goodness sakes, the government offers tax incentives for solar panel installations!  We are definitely going to have to research this in the near future.
